Great veterinary care isn’t just about treating illness — it’s about staying ahead of it. Our cat and dog wellness exams in Philadelphia are designed to monitor trends, detect subtle changes early, and build a preventive care plan tailored to your pet’s lifestyle.
At Philadelphia Animal Hospital, wellness visits are more than a quick checkup. Each appointment is a conversation. We evaluate physical health, discuss behavior and environment, and adjust recommendations as your pet grows and changes. Preventive care works best when it’s personalized, and our goal is to provide thoughtful wellness care that helps your pet stay healthy for years to come.
For most healthy adult dogs and cats, annual wellness exams are recommended. These visits allow us to monitor weight, dental health, heart function, mobility, and other subtle changes that may not be obvious at home.
Puppies and kittens require a series of visits during their first year to complete vaccination protocols, monitor development, and establish a strong preventive care foundation.
Senior pets, generally those over seven years of age, often benefit from exams every six months. As pets age, internal changes can occur more quickly, and more frequent monitoring allows us to detect and address concerns earlier.
If your pet has an ongoing medical condition, we may recommend more frequent visits to ensure their treatment plan remains effective and appropriate.
Comprehensive head-to-tail evaluations that assess organ health, joint mobility, dental condition, body weight, and early indicators of disease.
Customized vaccination plans based on your pet’s lifestyle and exposure risk, with titer testing available to measure existing immunity when appropriate.
Region-specific prevention programs designed to protect against fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal parasites common in the Philadelphia area.
Preventive bloodwork and diagnostic screenings that can detect metabolic changes, organ function concerns, and early disease markers.
Permanent identification that significantly improves the chances of being reunited with your pet if they ever become lost.
Recommendations for nutrition, weight management, behavior, and mobility support as your pet moves from puppyhood or kittenhood into adulthood and senior years.
For pets who visit us frequently, our General Wellness Plan helps make routine care more predictable and affordable. This annual program is designed to support preventive care while reducing the cost of common services.
Plan benefits include:
The wellness plan is $500 for the first year and $425 for renewal, and is valid for one pet for one calendar year from the date of enrollment. Additional pets may be added at a discounted rate.
Plans must be purchased upfront and do not automatically renew. Each plan is valid only for the enrolled pet and cannot be transferred to other animals.
Many conditions, including kidney disease, diabetes, dental disease, and heart abnormalities, begin without obvious symptoms. Routine exams allow us to detect early warning signs through physical assessment and screening tests.
We perform a full physical exam, review medical history, discuss behavior and lifestyle changes, and recommend preventive care based on findings. If screening tests are appropriate, we explain why and how they support early detection.
Not all vaccines are administered annually. Some provide longer-lasting immunity, and in certain cases, titer testing can measure protection levels. We build vaccination plans based on risk, age, and lifestyle rather than a blanket schedule.
Most dogs and cats are considered seniors around age seven, though this varies by breed and size. As pets age, we often recommend more frequent exams and screening tests to monitor organ function and mobility changes more closely.
Changes in appetite, weight, thirst, energy level, mobility, or behavior warrant evaluation. Even subtle shifts can indicate early health concerns. If something feels different, it’s worth scheduling an appointment.
